Distance Covered:

Cross-off wind with quite a few holes, but small clean waves. Enough for some small jumps and some front-side turns. Came in on a wave and heard an explosion a few metres behind. Looked round to see a kite had hit the water - they must have a lot of pressure in the tube to make a crack like that. I reckon it would have broken my arms had it hit me - the guy was struggling to control the thing as he walked back upwind through the shallows - it is difficult to give them enough space.
